Troopers were dispatched to the crash on Red Mill Road in Cortlandt at about 4:50 a.m. Thursday, March 15. Once on scene, troopers observed a 1999 Honda Civic that had struck a tree and utility pole. During the subsequent interview, Devon M. Anderson of the Bronx showed signs of impairment, police said.

Continued investigation determined Anderson was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs, police said. A search of the vehicle discovered over nine grams of Oxycodone Hydrochloride, approximately 9.6 grams of Alprazolam bars, and multiple small baggies of marijuana totaling approximately 8.6 grams, police said.

Anderson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a Class C felony, as well as criminal sale of marijuana in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Anderson was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or bond.
